As of August 29, 2025 (U.S. Time), the De Minimis rule, which exempted low-value shipments from taxes, has been suspended. Because of this, nearly all shipments to the U.S., regardless of value, are now subject to customs procedures.
To help with this change, WorldShopping now offers a **DDP (Delivered Duty Paid)** option for shipments to the mainland U.S. via ECMS, effective for all items shipped on or after September 3, 2025. When you select the DDP option, you generally will not need to pay any customs duties upon delivery, ensuring a smoother receiving process.
About the De Minimis Rule
The De Minimis rule was a U.S. customs regulation that exempted certain international parcels with a value of 800 USD or less from customs duties and taxes, which simplified the customs process. However, this exemption was suspended on August 29, 2025. Since then, customs duties, taxes, and standard customs procedures are generally required for all shipments, regardless of their value.
About DDP (Delivered Duty Paid)
DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is a shipping method where the sender (WorldShopping) prepays the import customs duties and other related fees on your behalf. These customs duties are charged to you along with the international shipping fee during the second payment when your items are shipped. With this method, you will generally have no additional costs to pay when you receive your items.
DDP Eligibility and Conditions
・Destination Country: U.S. Mainland (Excludes: military bases (APO/FPO/DPO) and U.S. territories).
・Designated Carrier: ECMS
・Effective Date: Applies to items shipped on or after September 3, 2025.
・Invoice Value: 800 USD or less.
※Please note that orders with an invoice value exceeding 800 USD are not eligible for the DDP option.
・Changes to Shipping Method: The shipping method (DDU vs. DDP) cannot be changed once the shipping process has begun.
Regarding the Tariff Rate
To provide a smoother delivery experience with DDP, WorldShopping calculates prepaid customs duties at an estimated rate that includes customs-related fees. While the actual tax rate and fees can vary depending on the product category and customs handling, applying a flat rate simplifies the process and helps prevent unexpected payments upon delivery.
Please Note:
・This tariff rate is not an official government tax rate.
・No refunds or additional charges will be issued if there is a difference between this flat rate and the actual customs duties amount.
・State taxes may be charged separately depending on the delivery region.
Fees and Payment Timing
・Payment Timing: The calculated customs duties will be charged together with the international shipping fee at the time of your second payment when the items are shipped from our warehouse.
・Adjustments and Refunds: In the event of a cancellation or return, please be aware that customs duties are generally non-refundable.
